EU regulation · Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence

EU AI Act

The AI Act sets harmonised rules for AI systems in the EU based on risk. Some practices are prohibited, high-risk systems must meet requirements on risk management, data, documentation, human oversight and robustness, and general-purpose AI models have their own obligations.

Checked 18 Oct 2026

What it asks

  • A classification of each AI system by risk.
  • For high-risk systems: risk management, data governance, technical documentation and logging.
  • Human oversight, accuracy, robustness and cybersecurity.
  • Conformity assessment and registration where required.

How Complia supports the work

  • 01

    References down to the article

Requirements arrive with their AI Act article reference and a link to the official text, so every task shows where it comes from.

  • 02

    Owner, evidence and review

Each requirement gets an owner, linked evidence and an independent review – the same workflow as every other source.

  • 03

    Cross-mapping

See where it overlaps with the CRA, ISO/IEC 27001 or your own standards, so evidence collected once supports several requirements.

What stays with you

Dates follow the regulation as adopted – check the official text for later amendments. Classifying your system remains your assessment, and the structure in Complia is unchecked until you verify it.
